Combat endurance and agility classes in Reading at M-Power Krav Maga

If you want fitness training in Reading that really challenges you, our combat endurance classes in Reading are worth knowing about. They build real physical capability, and they never feel like going through the motions. Each session combines two of the most useful physical qualities. First, the endurance to keep performing under sustained stress. Second, the agility to move quickly, change direction and stay balanced under pressure. Together, they build the kind of fitness that carries over into everyday life.

What Combat Endurance Classes in Reading Involve

These are not standard gym classes. Instead, the format is designed to develop functional physical qualities through varied, progressive and engaging training.

Endurance training at M-Power focuses on anaerobic capacity. In other words, it trains your ability to work hard in short to medium bursts and recover quickly. This is the energy system that matters in self-defence, sport and any demanding physical task. For this reason, HIIT-style intervals, circuit work and scenario-based conditioning drills make up the core of the endurance work.

Agility training at M-Power develops speed in every direction, reaction time, balance and coordination. For example, cone drills, partner reaction exercises, direction changes and footwork patterns build movement skills that straight-line fitness training never touches. When these two elements are combined in one session, the result is a training effect most people have never felt in a gym class.

Who the Classes Are For

M.A.C.E. classes in Reading suit:

  • People who feel their current fitness routine has stalled and want a real new challenge
  • Anyone interested in self-defence who also wants serious physical conditioning
  • Athletes from other sports who want to add functional movement to their training
  • Former athletes coming back to training who want something more engaging than a standard gym class
  • People who have tried generic fitness classes and found them too easy, too boring or lacking purpose

No prior martial arts or self-defence experience is needed. However, the classes suit people with a reasonable fitness base, while still challenging experienced athletes.

A Typical Session Structure

Warm-up (10 minutes): Joint mobility, dynamic movement preparation and light footwork drills. This gets the body ready for the intensity to come.

Agility block (20 minutes): Agility drills that get harder as you progress. For example, you might do lateral shuffles, T-drills, box drills, partner reaction work or a mix of these. The focus is on quality of movement: clean direction changes, controlled slowing down and sharp first steps.

Endurance circuit (20 to 25 minutes): High-intensity interval or circuit conditioning. Work periods last 20 to 40 seconds at high effort, followed by short recoveries. The circuit combines bodyweight exercises with movement drills.

Cool-down (5 to 10 minutes): Breathing work, static stretching for the areas you worked hardest, and mobility.

Sessions last about 55 to 60 minutes. You will work hard. Even so, you will notice progress quite quickly, because agility and anaerobic endurance respond well to targeted training.

Why Combat Endurance Classes in Reading Work

Most fitness formats develop one thing at a time. Running builds aerobic endurance, weights build strength and yoga builds flexibility. These are all valuable. However, none of them develops the combination that real performance needs.

Self-defence, sport and everyday physical life all demand three things. You need to move explosively in any direction, keep that quality under sustained effort, and recover quickly between hard efforts. Therefore, training endurance and agility together in the same session saves time and gives more functional results than training them separately.

It is also more engaging. Because each session demands different physical qualities, your attention stays high. As a result, you avoid the plateau that makes standard gym training stall after a few months.

FAQs

Do I need a good fitness base to join these classes?

A reasonable baseline helps, because these sessions are more demanding than absolute beginner fitness classes. That said, you set your own intensity in each drill, and instructors can offer modifications where needed. If you have not exercised regularly for a while, start with a general beginner class first. Then move on to endurance and agility training.

How do these classes differ from boxercise or fitness kickboxing?

Boxercise and kickboxing fitness classes use martial arts movements for general cardio conditioning. In contrast, M.A.C.E. focuses on functional movement: agility in every direction, interval-based endurance and the physical qualities that matter for self-defence.

Can I combine these classes with self-defence training?

Yes, and many members do. The fitness you build in agility and endurance sessions directly improves your self-defence training. In short, the two complement each other well.

How much does it cost?

Classes are £10 per session on a pay-as-you-go basis. Alternatively, you can become an M-Power member for a monthly fee. See current prices.

Is there a trial session?

Yes. M-Power offers a £10 trial session for new members in all its programmes, including the M.A.C.E. classes. Also, if you sign up to our programme within 48 hours of your trial class, we will put the £10 towards your joining fee.
